About Airsoft
Airsoft is a competitive shooting sport in which players use realistic replica firearms that fire 6mm plastic BBs. Played individually or in teams, airsoft spans a wide range of formats - from casual skirmishes to large-scale military simulations. Unlike paintball, airsoft relies on an honour system where players call their own hits, rewarding integrity and sportsmanship as much as tactics and marksmanship.
Airsoft is legal and actively played in most countries worldwide, including New Zealand, making it an ideal destination for Australian players looking to compete. In Australia, airsoft occupies a complex regulatory space as replica firearms are restricted under state and territory laws, leaving New Zealand as the accessible home of competitive ANZ airsoft. Australia is behind the world on regulated airsoft but all Australians over 18 are welcome to join us every year.
For Australian players, an OZ1 event is often their first and best opportunity to experience the sport at a serious level. Whether you're curious about the sport or already deep in the hobby, airsoft has something for every kind of player - and OZ1 events are designed to be the best possible introduction to what it can be at its most organised and immersive.
Who We Are
OZ1 Airsoft Australia is an ANZ airsoft team, event organiser and active community founded in 2014.
Proudly the first active airsoft team up and running in Australia. Based in AUS and operating out of Christchurch, New Zealand, we have been running milsim airsoft events for over a decade.

With a community of dedicated players from across Australia and New Zealand, OZ1 is one of the longest-running active airsoft event organisations in the southern hemisphere.

WHAT WE DO
We design and run large-scale airsoft events in Christchurch, New Zealand, built around immersive milsim gameplay for approximately 100+ participants.
Every OZ1 event is a self-contained scenario over 3 full days with a fourth bonus day at a local CQB field.
The event features faction-based gameplay, structured command hierarchies, and narrative-driven objectives - playable across multiple forest, field, fort and paintball style fields all connected over 100 acres of land.
Our airsoft event design caters to players at every experience level, from first-timers to seasoned operators.
Our current flagship series - WASTELAND - launches in September 2026.

For the first time in 7 years, OZ1 could not travel in 2020 due to COVID-19.
